Arqana Sale average rises 10%

The fourth and final session of the Arqana December Sale breeding stock sale was dominated by National Hunt stock on Tuesday.  Topping Day 4 at Deauville was Action Ball at 70,000 euros.  He is a half-brother to Group 1 jumper Rubi Ball.

The Deauville Sale was held over four days this year instead of three and turnover reached 17.06 million euros.  The average price increased 10% to 28,772 euros.

“Overall, the sale produced positive results thanks to a catalogue of top quality,” Arqana president Eric Hoyeau said.  “But the National Hunt mares are much harder to sell now than a few years ago.  Ireland used to be a major buyer but they have been hit hard by the financial crisis and that has depressed and narrowed down the market.”
