Arising Knight promotes Proart

A Knight Of Pro is winning races on raw ability this season and that augurs well for his future with trainers Rob & Todd Harvey.

The big-striding son of Proart took the field up to tearaway leader More Aces at Belmont on Saturday and then kept up a strong gallop for a two-length victory in the Old Mate’s Sports Bar Hcp (1200m).

“He’s starting to put it all together,” Rob Harvey said. “He’s alright once he gets into a rhythm and we will step him up to 1300m back here in a fortnight.”

A Knight Of Pro (3g Proart – Principal Dame by Singspiel) hasn’t missed a placed in his last 6 starts and that includes an earlier win at Ascot on the Anzac Day long-weekend. “He travelled well in the leader’s slipstream and I was confident on the corner,” jockey Jason Brown admitted. “I was aware the favourite High Conviction was right behind us but he put paid to them in the straight.”

The winner is the last foal of Principal Dame who won at Morphettville and was runner-up in the 2008 G3 Queens Cup at Cheltenham. Her half-brother The Ex Files won 12 races and was also stakes placed in Adelaide.

His sire Proart stands at Balmoral Park and there are exciting times ahead for the stakes winning son of Rock Of Gibraltar. Stud manager Brian Collison reports Proart has some cracking types coming through the ranks after being educated at his home-base in Bedfordale.

Balmoral Park proprietors Neil and Annette Irvine, who bred and race A Knight Of Pro, have restored the property to its former glory offering top-class agistment facilities as well as Pre-training and Breaking services.

All the farm’s fencing has been replaced, the 1600m railed exercise track has been resurfaced and is now equipped with Simtrack starting gates. A breeding barn and new horse walkers are just a few of the changes made in the last 12 months.

Other facilities include a 70m horse pool, 2 large, well-ventilated barns, 16 sheltered turnout yards, an Olympic sized arena under lights, lunging ring, roll yards while the track and all 44 paddocks are under full irrigation.

By booking into Proart before September 1, broodmare owners will be eligible for an ‘early-promotion’ service fee. Brian Collison can be contacted for further information on 0411 055 164.
