Americain relation Cruzing in Hong Kong

Swettenham Stud sire Americain has a close relation pleasing trainer Derek Cruz in Hong Kong.

You Read My Mind (3g Exceed And Excel – Blue Parade by Singspiel) was an eye-catching trial winner over 800 metres at Sha Tin on Tuesday.  The Irish-bred Griffin is a from a half-sister to the dam of Americain and he has impressed Cruz with some sharp workouts since arriving in Hong Kong.

The South China Morning Post reported You Read My Mind showed a nice set of gears in Tuesday’s hit-out after sitting handy near the speed on the stands side.  He travelled smoothly, despite inclined to lay in at times, but once jockey Tom Queally popped the question, the youngster kicked clear in the final stages to win with plenty of authority.

You Read My Mind is by Darley champion Exceed And Excel from an unraced half-sister to Americain’s dam America.  He originally changed hands for 100,000gns (AUD 159,915) at the 2011 Tattersalls October yearling sale.

Blandford Bloodstock purchased You Read My Mind from the draft of Hillwood Park and he was subsequently sold to Cruz client Joseph Chung.

Meanwhile, Americain (Dynaformer) will start serving his first Kentucky mares at Calumet Farm next week and will return to Australia in August for his initial southern season at Swettenham Stud.

Americain (USA) will stand for a $12,500 (+ gst) service fee in Victoria.  There are limited lifetime breeding rights available by calling Swettenham owner Adam Sangster on 0418 543 633.
