Adena Springs wins Breeder Eclipse Award

Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs has received an unprecedented eighth North American Eclipse Breeder Award since 2000.

In 2011, Adena Springs bred the winners of 455 races with earnings of more than $14.60 million.  That total more than doubled second-placed breeder Ken and Sarah Ramsey.

The list of Adena Springs stakes winners in 2011 was impressive and included 9 Group winners headed by Game On Dude who won the G1 Santa Anita Handicap and G1 Goodwood Stakes.

West Coast based Bourbon Bay was next best with G2 victories at Santa Anita and Del Mar.  Adena’s other Group winners were Bay to Bay, Celtic New Year, City Wolf, Don Cavallo, Matthewsburg, Smart Sting and Stunning Stag.

Stronach, who built Magna International into one of the world’s leading auto parts manufacturers, has been involved in breeding and racing thoroughbreds for more than 40 years.

Stronach has won 18 Sovereign Awards in his homeland Canada and also owns of a strong portfolio of racetracks including Santa Anita Park, Gulfstream Park, Pimlico and Laurel Park.
