Adena Springs tops leader-board on Day 11 at Keeneland

Adena Springs added to its inventory of recent acquisitions with a pair of fillies for $110,000 apiece at the Keeneland September yearling sale on Thursday.

A Proud Citizen filly from stakes winner In Return (Horse Chestnut) was the first filly on Frank Stronach’s shopping list.  The Kentucky-bred yearling comes from the family of G1 Flower Bowl Invitational winner Auntie Mame (Theatrical).

A filly from the first crop of champion sprinter Midnight Lute fetched the same price.  The bay filly is out of the Deputy Commander mare Per Se who comes from the family of stakes performers Holiday Lady, My Main Starr and Putra.

Adena Springs also purchased an $80,000 E Dubai colt out of Papalma (Dixieland Band).  He is a brother to recently-retired G2 winner Aggie Engineer.

Keeneland’s Day 11 trade topped $5.13 million and the average jumped 55% to $17,633.
