Adelaide Magic Millions – Average rises 33%

This year’s buoyant sale series continued at the Adelaide Magic Millions with huge increases in turnover and average.

Book 1 on Monday and Tuesday saw a gross figure of $10.28 million (up 54%) while the average was $43,737 (up 33%).  The clearance rate rose 5 points to 85%.

“It’s just been a really good sale for a lot of people and that’s tremendously rewarding from our point of view,” Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox said.  “The thing that was so positive was the depth and consistency of the market.”

Topping the leader-board was the Sebring filly from Redoute’s Choice winner Aussie Crawl at $230,000.  Offered by Goldin Farms, she was purchased by agent Sheamus Mills on behalf of Cranbourne trainer Mick Kent.  “The stallion is flying at the moment and she has a good pedigree,” Mills said.  “Mick and I thought she was the star of the sale and we’re delighted to get her.”

The Written Tycoon – Zoccoletta colt was next best at $195,000 when targeted by trainer Tony McEvoy.  “He’s from Baramul Stud so has had a good start,” McEvoy said. “He’s got great bone on him, tremendous depth of muscle and a lot of power through his core.  He will be there for the big two-year-old dances in the spring.”

Book 2 on Wednesday was topped by a Good Journey half-brother to recent Port Lincoln Cup winner Tidy Prophet (Keep The Faith).  He was purchased by Darren Weir for $50,000.
