800 win milestone for Mossman

Rejuvenated sprinter Under The Eiffel completed a feature double for Mossman on Launceston Cup day.

Local filly Come Follow Me claimed the first leg in the Veolia Classic (1200m) for leading trainers Dave and Scott Brunton.  Her only unplaced run in 8 starts was in the Jackson Motors Cup in December.

The result was also a milestone for Mossman – it was the 800th win for the Vinery sire since Segments opened his account in the LR Gimcrack Stakes at Randwick in October 2003.

Come Follow Me (3f Mossman – Happy Play by Barathea) was a $45,000 buy from Baramul Stud at the 2011 Magic Millions National Sale.  She is from a half-sister to G1 AJC Metropolitan Hcp winner Newport (Encosta de Lago).

Under The Eiffel returned to his best form in the LR George Adams Plate (1600m) and trainer Tony Vasil will be hoping the trip to Tasmania is a turning point for the gelding.

The Mossman galloper had risen through the ranks twelve months earlier after finishing second to Torio’s Quest in the G2 Queensland Guineas at Eagle Farm.  He started the 2011 spring campaign with an easy win on Seymour Cup day before landing a plunge at Flemington on Melbourne Cup day.

Under The Eiffel (5g Mossman – Spire by Danehill) signed off with a G3 victory in the Sandown Stakes but he drew a blank in 10 starts during 2012.  The George Adams win increased his earnings to over $455,000.

The George Adams was a timely win for Torryburn Stud who sold him for $45,000 at the 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.  Torryburn has a stunning Magic Albert half-brother to Under The Eiffel that has been entered as Lot 494 for the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Under The Eiffel is one of 21 stakes winners by Mossman whose overall record reads 275 winners at a 68% strike-rate.  Vinery stands him for a $27,500 (inc gst) service fee.
