First War Chant foals arrive at Yarradale Stud

War Chant’s first southern foals are on the ground at Yarradale Stud.  The Three Chimneys shuttler covered 104 mares at a $22,000 service fee last year.

Colts from Metallic Storm and Chantilly Rock (Ire) were the first to arrive at the leading Western Australian nursery.

Metallic Storm (Metal Storm) won 10 races for Yarradale owner Ron Sayers and Tony Patrizi including Listed victories in the Placid Ark Stakes and Crawford Quality at Ascot.  She has a yearling filly by Musket.

Sayers purchased Chantilly Rock for 145,000 euros at the 2008 Arqana yearling sale.  By Rock Of Gibraltar, she won the Prix du Phare d’Ailly (1200m) as a three year-old for trainer Pascal Bary.

Chantilly Rock is a half-sister to Longchamp G3 winner Coupe De Champe (Take Risks) and Santa Anita G2 winner Obrigado (Enrique).  Their second-dam Oak Hill was a G1 winner of the 1974 Prix Marcel Boussac which is run on Arc de Triomphe undercard.  Her three-quarter-brother Sassafras had famously defeated super colt Nijinsky in the Arc four years earlier.

War Chant (Danzig) is building up for a successful conclusion to high-profile summer meetings in North America next weekend.

Cease goes for a career-high result in the G1 Woodward Stakes at Saratoga on Saturday, September 1.  The following day War Chant’s top-class colt Midnight Crooner starts in the G2 Del Mar Derby.
