Pocket dynamo Wee Cent has improved her record to 4 wins in 7 starts with another gutsy victory in the Purslowe Chipper Funerals Hcp (1000m) at Ascot.

Tipping the scales at less than 400kg, Wee Cent races well above her weight for trainer David Harrison and owner-breeder Clive Atwell of Darling View Thoroughbreds.  “She’s all heart and has only had 4 weeks off in 12 months,” Harrison revealed.  “We don’t want to go to the well too many times so we will wait to see how she pulls up before making on a decision on where to go from here.”

Saturday’s victory came after she was passed fit to start by the club vet after looking short in her action going to the barrier.  “She felt all right to me,” apprentice Tayla Stone said after weighing in.  “She flew the gates and hit the line hard-held!”

Wee Cent (3f Lope De Vega – Rock Revival by Flying Spur) had won a Northam maiden in September and added Ascot midweeks in December and February before the latest victory boosted her earnings to $126,555.  That bank balance includes Westspeed bonuses of $45,000.

Atwell purchased Rock Revival for $30,000 at a Magic Millions dispersal sale in 2013.  A half-sister Let’s Rock Again (G2 Reisling Slipper Stakes), she won 7 sprints in Sydney for Patinack Farm.

The mare’s final foal is a 2yo filly named Solid Azza.  A daughter of Darling View sire Patronize, she finished second in a Lark Hill 600m trial last Monday.
