Vinery dominates at Doomben

Vinery stallions dominated the Doomben midweek meeting with 4 of the 8 winners on Wednesday.

Pluck sired his latest first-crop winner with Beyond Brave in the Mirvac Ascot Green Hcp (1350m).  Trainer Dan Bougoure bought him for $110,000 at the 2015 Magic Millions HIT Sale and he’s from a half-sister to G1 Queen Of The Turf winner Ike’s Dream.

Pluck is a Top 6 sire on the Australian second-season premiership with 20 individual winners and he also has NZ stakes performer Mongolian Wolf primed to win again at Tauranga this Saturday.

More Than Ready mare Prontezza boosted her residual value with a 5 length victory in the Veuve Society Membership Hcp (1200m).  She is a homebred for Fairway Thoroughbreds owner John Camilleri who bred and sold Winx.

The Vinery champion sired her from G1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Rostova (Testa Rossa).  “Prontezza can run sensational times on the track,” stable foreman Trent Edmonds said.  “She is bred to be a very good horse and don’t be shocked if she wins a good race before too long.”

More Than Ready’s Group 1 classic winner Prized Icon can add another good race to his record in the G2 Tulloch Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on Saturday.

Husson miler First Crush continued the Vinery momentum in the Gallopers Sports Club Hcp (1650m) at Doomben.  He hasn’t been out of a place in 6 starts since New Year’s Day.

First Crush was a $100,000 buy for Max Whitby from a Patinack Sale in 2014.  “He was ridden a treat by my apprentice Michael Murphy,” trainer Chris Munce declared.  “He was fitter than the rest and was just too strong.”

Husson filly Frolic has pulled up a treat after a gallant second in the G1 Golden Slipper and she looks the perfect horse going forward to the G1 Inglis Sires’ Produce Stakes at Randwick.

Myboycharlie gelding My Firecracker made four for the day in the Events At BRC Hcp (1650m).  He was completing a hat-trick of his own and is ready for a step up to Saturday company for trainer John Smerdon.

Caulfield Cup winner Jameka can add another Group 1 for Myboycharlie in the BMW at Rosehill this Saturday.

Vinery sires Testa Rossa and Casino Prince can also weigh in with black-type this weekend.  Testa Rossa filly Ellicazoom is the $3.50 pre-post favourite for the G3 Alexandra Stakes at Moonee Valley on Friday night and Lim’s Cruiser races first-up in the G3 Rocket Man Sprint at Kranji on Sunday.
