Turkish Jockey Club reports death of Sri Pekan

Former Coolmore Stud shuttler Sri Pekan has died in Turkey aged 23.

Sri Pekan (USA) arrived in the first crop by Red Ransom and was trained by Paul Cole for Group 2 juvenile victories in the Coventry Stakes, Champagne Stakes and Richmond Stakes.

He shuttled to Australia for three season in the 1990s but only met with limited success out here.  From 208 live foals conceived in the Hunter Valley, he sired 4 stakes winners topped by River Mist (G2 WA Guineas).

The best of his northern hemisphere stock includes Amorama (Del Mar Oaks), De Sica (Italian Derby) and Sunny Sing (Hong Kong Classic).

Coolmore Stud sold Sri Pekan to the Turkish Jockey Club in 2002.
