Torch Relay transfers to Victoria

Former Tasmanian-based sire Torch Relay is covering his first Victorian book with Jeff Dosser at Bangholme.

He was the first son of Lonhro to stand at stud after retiring to Park Crest Stud at Westbury in 2010.  From limited numbers, his first winner arrived in October 2015 when Flame Of Hope was successful at Launceston.

Torch Relay was bred at Woodlands Stud and was the last foal of top-class producer Olympic Flame who also threw Sports (G1 Lightning Stakes & G1 Oakleigh Plate), Medals (G3 Newcastle Classic) and Seika (G2 AJC Silver Shadow Stakes).

He was sold to clients of trainer Michael Trinder shortly after Sheikh Mohammed purchased Woodlands in 2008.

The new owners changed his name to Fire Engine Guy and the colt created a big impression winning a Launceston juvenile on debut in March 2009.  He beat older horses a week later at Devonport but a breathing problem restricted his career to just six starts.

Fire Engine Guy reverted to his original name at stud, however, he only sired 30 foals in Tasmania.

Broodmare owners can book into Torch Relay for a $1,650 (inc gst) fee by contacting Jeff Dosser on 0499 752 181.
