Sunny spur for All Too Hard

The experience of a previous prep spurred Eclair Sunshine to victory in a juvenile sprint at Morphettville on Saturday.

Eclair Sunshine barged his way through a gap to score a last-to-first victory in the West Adelaide Football Club Hcp (1050m). The lightly-raced son of All Too Hard gave a couple of hip-and-shoulders and then set out after the leader to win by over a length running away.

Trainer Philip Stokes predicted he would run a big race at his first run back this campaign “I like Eclair Sunshine,” Stokes said. “He’s always showed good ability and we’ve been trying to teach to relax in his races.

Eclair Sunshine is the 6th first-crop winner by Vinery sire All Too Hard. He looked an early winner back in November when poised to strike at Morphettville only to be narrowly beaten by Carusmatic.

Stokes trains him for Macau-based owner Thomas Li. Bred by Greg Perry from Miss Rangoon, he was sold through the Vinery draft at the 2016 Gold Coast Magic Millions for $290,000.

“He showed a good turn of foot first-up today,” Stokes added. “I only brought him back into work to teach him a few things. He’s going for a quick break this week. In and out and back for the spring in Melbourne.

“I’ve got a few by All Too Hard and I’m a fan.”

Eclair Sunshine’s dam Miss Rangoon (USA) retired unraced and foaled BTC Classic-Gr.3 winner Platinum Kingdom first-up at stud. She’s positive to All Too Hard on an October cover last year.

All Too Hard’s end-of-season momentum can continue with Hard Ruler and Sundaze Lovin’ at Sale on Sunday. He stands at Vinery for a $44,000 (inc gst) service fee.
