Broodmare owners have the chance to snap up a service fee to some of Australia’s best stallions at the Inglis Sale at Oaklands Junction on August 21.

Seven of Victorian’s best stud farms have generously donated 2015 nomination fees to their stallions to Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria (TBV) and these will be up for auction at the sale.  The stallions on offer are catalogued between Lots 68 and 74 inclusive;

HAMPTON COURT – Spendthrift Australia
HELMET – Darley
PUISSANCE DE LUNE – Swettenham Stud
STATUE OF LIBERTY – Eliza Park International
STRYKER – Three Bridges Thoroughbreds
TOORAK TOFF – Rosemont Stud
WRITTEN TYCOON – Woodside Park Stud

President of TBV, James O’Brien said the line-up for the auction represented some of the best stallion talent in Victoria and Australia.  “There has simply been no better time to breed a horse in Victoria with the enormous growth of the VOBIS Gold and Super VOBIS schemes along with a $16.5 million Victorian prizemoney increase.

“I expect there will be strong bidding on all seven stallions with some of them already facing a closed or very full book of mares for the upcoming season,”  O’Brien said.  “These seven stallions include those with black-type progeny such as Written Tycoon, Statue of Liberty and Stryker; those with their first runners in the upcoming racing season such as Toorak Toff and Helmet; and a selection of new sires including Puissance de Lune and Hampton Court.

“TBV is very thankful to each of the seven studs for donating a service fee from their stallions.  Proceeds from last year’s stallion auction contributed enormously to TBV being able to upgrade its website and social media presence, increase its lobbying activities and undertake other tasks to promote Victorian bred thoroughbreds.

“A successful 2015 stallion auction will further increase TBV’s ability to be an effective advocate for Victorian breeders, widen our marketing presence and, ultimately, seek to increase the financial returns for our members.

“TBV is also grateful to Inglis for hosting the stallion fee auction and generously agreeing to remove the normal sale commission.  Inglis has been a long-time supporter of Victorian breeders and we thank them for their significant assistance.”
