Silent Sedition set for Perth

Silent Sedition will miss the G1 Myer Stakes at Flemington to be set for the Perth summer carnival.

A paddock injury has forced trainer Andrew Noblet to keep the 4yo mare on light duties in advance of the Melbourne spring carnival.  “She pulled a muscle and it put her back three weeks,” he said.  “She’s fine but won’t be ready to run a mile in the Myer.”

The daughter of Yarradale Stud sire War Chant (USA) will now target the G1 Railway Stakes (1600m) on November 19 and G1 Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on December 3.

A revised program for Perth will see Silent Sedition race first-up in the G3 Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on October 8.

Silent Sedition cost $45,000 from Korilya Stud at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions and has earned $290,000 for Adelaide based owner Tom Curnow.  She won the LR Bendigo Guineas (1400m) and G3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) during an autumn campaign and was last seen finishing second in the G1 Australasian Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville.

“She’s a quality filly and tries so hard,” Noblet said.  “You can’t ask for more than that.”

Her dam Fiorentina (Dubai Destination) is an unraced half-sister to G1 Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso (Dubawi).  Second-dam Porto Roca (Barathea) won a G1 Coolmore Classic at Rosehill.

Fiorentina has a 2yo filly by Dick Turpin and a yearling colt by Yarradale sire Gingerbread Man.  The mare is now owned by Amelia Park’s Peter Walsh and was covered by Snippetson last year.
