Shaft transfers to Hardwicke Stud

Hardwicke Stud will stand Shaft for a $3,300 (inc gst) service fee this year.

The former Darley Kelvinside resident has sired over 50 winners and $2 million in earnings including NZ stakes winner Magic Shaft and city performers like Such Hope, Erin’s Element, Flight Academy, Massale, Deakes and Boom Baby.

Shaft (Flying Spur – Traceable by Rahy) won the G2 Silver Slipper on debut in 2007 and was then third in the G3 Todman Slipper Trial behind Meurice and Zizou.  He finished sixth in the Golden Slipper won by Forensics.

By champion sire and Golden Slipper winner in Flying Spur, he is from a half-sister to Horse of the Year Typhoon Tracy.  It’s the family of sires Red Element, Danasinga, Cullen, Towkay, Prince Arthur and Master of Design.

Shaft will stand alongside Catbird’s brother Bearcat at the Yass property.  Bearcat replaced deceased sire Moscow Ballet (Sadlers Wells) on short notice at Hardwicke Stud last year.
