Royal Ascot beckons Euro Charline

Euro Charline will return to England for the Royal Ascot meeting after finishing a creditable fourth in the G1 Dubai Turf (1800m) at Meydan on Saturday night.

The Myboycharlie filly was short of a run when racing first-up after 224 days at the World Cup meeting.  She hadn’t been in action since a ground-breaking Group 1 victory in the Beverley D. Stakes in Chicago last August.

“We will see how she comes out of Dubai before making a decision for summer,” trainer Marco Botti said.  “The Group 1 Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot would suit her considering there are a lot less older horses at that level that have stayed in training this year.”

The G1 Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket in July is another option for the daughter of Vinery sire Myboycharlie.

“We couldn’t find a suitable prep race before Dubai,” Botti explained.  “By the time she came back from North America, it was a tight schedule and we could only give her a one mile work-out at Chelmsford a fortnight before the comeback.”

Euro Charline raced keenly in front of a strong Dubai Turf line-up and she fought back gamely in the final furlong when collared by eventual winner Solow.

“She still has a winter coat and there are so many good races coming up for her at home,” Botti added.  “I haven’t trained a Group 1 winner in England yet so let’s hope it happens this year.”

Myboycharlie has a half-brother to recent Randwick winner Koroibete at the Inglis Easter yearling sale on April 9.  Catalogued as Lot 498, the colt is from Zabeel mare Zakusa (NZ) who is a three-quarter sister to G1 AJC Champagne Stakes winner Isolda.
