Ken Keys rejected a significant offer for Rich Enuff last month and the reason for that decision has been rubber-stamped in the G2 Danehill Stakes (1200m) at Flemington.

Rich Enuff is a son of Woodside Park Stud sire Written Tycoon and Keys rates him the best horse he’s ever trained.  “I’ve never won a Group 1and I wasn’t tempted by those bids from Hong Kong,” Keys said.  “I think he’s a natural miler and he’s a chance in the Caulfield Guineas.

“I guess he has genuine stallion potential now and I’m sure he will more create interest from studs if he wins the Group 1.”

Rich Enuff (3c Written Tycoon – Hotnuff by Spartacus) started a $6 second-favourite on Saturday after a last-start Listed victory in the Mitchell McKenzie Stakes (1000m) at Moonee Valley.  He was always well-placed down the straight course and had enough in reserve to defeat late-closer Looks Like The Cat (Husson) by a head.

“He’s very exciting,” winning jockey Michael Rodd said.  “There’s a really good engine there.”

The winner was bred by Keys and his wife Louise and they race him in partnership with Colin Johnstone.  The Danehill cheque increased his earnings to $213,000.

Hotnuff has a 2yo colt and a yearling filly by Chatswood Stud sire Reward For Effort and she was booked back to Written Tycoon this season.

Written Tycoon has sired the winners of 12 stakes races in Australia and there could be another on the cards with Caveka in the G2 Stutt Stakes (1600m) at Moonee Valley on Friday night, September 26.

Caveka (3g Written Tycoon – Talkin’ About by Commands) is a brother to talented mare Fiftyshadesofgrey and he signalled stakes winning potential with a last-start victory at Moonee Valley.

He also holds a Group 1 nomination for the Caulfield Guineas.

Woodside Park stands Written Tycoon for an unchanged service fee of $13,750 (inc gst) this year.
