Readymade 2YOs from Raheen

The Gold Coast Breeze Ups next month will showcase Raheen Stud’s readymade draft of 18 lots for the Magic Millions 2YO Sale.

Raheen Stud’s Basil Nolan jr will have them tuned up but not over the top for the Breeze Ups on Monday, September 21.  They then go back home and return to the Gold Coast in time for the 2YO Sale three weeks later on October 13 & 14.

Nolan will have them peaking for domestic buyers and a loyal base of clients down from Asia.  “Our Northern Meteor colt is a potential sale-topper,” Nolan declared describing Lot 36.  “He really looks the part and he’s a half-brother to the National Sprint winner Snippets Land.

“We’ve got 6 by Captain Sonador and there’s sure to be more winners by him before the Sale.  There are three by Rothesay and two each by Snippetson and Publishing.”

Captain Sonador has sired 6 winners from his first crop headed by Michael Nolan’s classy filly Dream Finnish.  There were numerous two year-old placegetters but none more promising than Desleigh Forster’s untapped colt I’m Belucci.

And Raheen’s decision to join the Rothesay syndicate paid off when he topped the Australian first-season premiership with 14 individual winners last season.  Raheen’s Rothesays include a colt from Relic Bay (Lot 28), a half-sister to top-class sprinter Sir Breakfast.

Raheen Stud meets the market and sold all its lots at the 2014 Magic Millions 2YO Sale.  Local winners from last year’s sale include Counter Meal and Pure Chance while Loch Maree was placed on debut at Doomben in June.

That success comes on the back of previous graduates like Perfect Weapon who won three times in four starts at Warwick Farm this time last banking over $180,000 for part-owner and trainer Greg Hickman.

Raheen is still taking bookings to its resident sires for this season.  Golden Archer (Rock Of Gibraltar) stands for $6,600 (inc gst) and Publishing (Testa Rossa) is available at $4,400 (inc gst).
