Oratorio colt wins by a Street

Saturday’s sizzling Ascot winner Lucky Street races for a syndicate that have been strong supporters of his sire Oratorio (Aus).

Lucky Street sat outside Oratorio front-runner Peter Perfect in the Seacorp 2YO Plate (1000m) before sprinting to a four-length victory eased down by Paul Harvey.  “I’ve got a good opinion of this bloke,”  trainer Trevor Andrews said.  “His work was super on Tuesday and he’s such a relaxed galloper with a nice turn of foot.”

The precocious colt is owned by a syndicate that includes Andrews, Ken Gregson, Isaac Cohen, Ross Drage and their wives.  They have raced Oratorio winners like Palace Intruder and Outlaw Pete who is on track for the G2 WA Guineas on November 22.

Lucky Street (2c Oratorio – Rumours by Umatilla) cost $75,000 from Mungrup Stud at the 2014 Perth Magic Millions and he has already returned $66,500 boosted by a Westspeed bonus.  “He had no luck first-up a fortnight ago and didn’t really have a hard run,” Andrews revealed.  “I told Paul to be positive and let the horse do the talking.”

Mungrup Stud mare Rumours won 6 races in Perth and has foaled multiple winners by Scenic, Bletchley Park and Danehill Express.  She delivered a colt by Hala Bek last year before being bred back to Oratorio.

Vets reported Lucky Street returned with a laceration to the near hind-leg and Andrews advised stewards the colt will now be sent for a spell.  He will return in time for the $250,000 Magic Millions Perth 2YO Classic at Ascot on February 14.

Oratorio filly Cadenza won this year’s Magic Millions Classic on the way to helping her sire claim a fourth Sunspeed 2YO premiership.  He stands at Mungrup for a $16,500 (inc gst) service fee.
