Paximadia has been retired to Lincoln Farm in the Hunter Valley for the 2015 season.

An imposing son of Commands from a half-sister to Street Cry, he was an impressive debut winner before ending his juvenile season with a Group 1 placing behind Romantic Touch and Zoustar in the J J Atkins Stakes.

Paximadia starred as a three year-old at the Flemington spring carnival winning the LR Vintage Stakes (1400m), a race previously won by his sire, before a barrier-to-box victory over future Group 1 winner Hucklebuck in the G3 Carbine Club Stakes (1600m).

Trainer Peter Snowden kept him in work for a Group 2 victory in the Sandown Guineas (1600m) which ranked him among the Top 5 Milers among the 3YO Colts of 2013-14.

“Paximadia has been secured by a partnership of leading NSW breeders which guarantees he will cover a strong book of mares and provide a sound foundation for his future at stud,” Lincoln Farm owner Nick Posa said.

“He had toughness and speed which he showed at Flemington on Derby day when sprinting from the gate to lead all the way and show a real turn of foot to defeat Hucklebuck.

“Paximadia has good size and bone and is a very strong and muscular individual typical of his sire line.  Physically he has some similarities to his close relation Street Cry but overall he looks like a short course sprinter so I would be confident of him producing strong early types that will appeal to Australian yearling buyers.”

Paximadia will stand for an $11,000 (inc gst) service and will be based alongside Savabeel’s half-brother Arlington.
