Hautvillers lived up to her pedigree with a hollow victory first time out at Seymour on Thursday.

The Woodside Park filly was eased down by Brad Rawiller in the closing stages but was still three lengths to the good of her rivals in the Bar Landy Restaurant Plate (1309m).  “That was a terrific way to start her career,” Rawiller said.  “She was a bit of a handful before the start but Bob Challis helped me get her down to the barriers.”

Hautvillers (3f Flying Spur – Dame Cath by Zabeel) is trained by Luke Oliver at Caulfield for Woodside Park owner Mark Rowsthorn.  She was a $45,000 buy at the 2013 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Her NZ-bred dam Dame Cath began her career with a Listed victory at Riccarton before transferring to Bart Cummings for further wins at Flemington and Caulfield.  The first of her five winners to date was the Anthony Cummings trained stayer Red Lord who won a Group 3 at Caulfield and two Listed events at Rosehill.

Rawiller believes Hautvillers is also destined for longer races than Thursday.  “She travelled beautifully and got into a nice rhythm.  She will be much better for today and will definitely get further.”

The Seymour result continued another good week for Woodside Park.  Resident sire Written Tycoon produced a very smart colt when the current season two year-olds performed in public for the first time at Cranbourne on Monday.

Royalic (2c Written Tycoon – Queenie by Black Minnaloushe) won an 800m trial and he looks an early-comer for trainer Mark Riley.  His older half-brother Trump claimed the G3 Gunsynd Classic in Brisbane before transferring to Hong Kong where he was a last-start winner at Sha Tin on September 14.
