Highview Stud sells Danroad

Highview Stud stallion Danroad has been sold to the Inner Mongolia Rider Horse Group.

“He has been a great source of winners,” Highview Stud’s Brent Gillovic said.  “Unfortunately, he has been getting virtually zero patronage over the last three seasons, so at least he will serve some mares up there.

“In the 1980s these types of stallions would have covered good books of mares,” Gillovic added.  “Sadly, good books helped by people who bred to race are but a distant memory now.”

Danroad (Danehill – Strawberry Girl by Strawberry Road) was the second leading colt on the 2001 New Zealand 2YO Free Handicap after winning the G2 Challenge Stakes at Trentham.  He retired to Highview in 2004 and also shuttled to Rathmuck Stud in Ireland in 2006.

His best performer has been G1 T J Smith Classic winner Rockdale while Down The Road was a G2 Championship Stakes winner and ran second in the G1 New Zealand Derby.
