Grey Swallow repatriated to Ireland

Former Woodside Park stallion Grey Swallow will start a new stud career in Ireland next year.

The Group 1 winning son of Daylami has been repatriated to Knockhouse Stud in Co Kilkenny.

Grey Swallow (Ire) was unbeaten at two finishing with an 8 length victory in the G3 Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown.  He returned to claim the 2004 Irish Derby and then came back for another Group 1 in the 2005 Tatts Gold Cup at the Curragh.

Trainer Dermot Weld took him on the road for a Group 2 victory at Hollywood Park before he signed off with an unplaced effort in the 2006 Cox Plate won by Fields Of Omagh.

Grey Swallow sired his first winner when Fine Cinders scored at Wodonga in February 2012, however, he didn’t appeal to local breeders and only averaged books between 30 and 40 mares at Woodside Park.

“He’s a nice-looking horse and is very correct,” Knockhouse owner Sean Kinsella said.  “He’s by Daylami who has done well with his jumpers.”
