Arrowfield Stud champion Snitzel completed an international feature double in Australia and Japan on Saturday.

His 2yo colt Azazel looks set for greater riches after winning the $250,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) at Moonee Valley a few hours after Young Man Power took out the G3 Fuji Stakes (1600m) in Tokyo.

Arrowfield couldn’t be happier seeing Snitzel continue to star on the big stage. “The past two seasons have been breakout seasons for him,” marketing manager Vicky Leonard said.  “And as his service fee increases, so are the quality of mares he’s serving so the future is only looking better.”

Azazel (2c Snitzel – Allariza by Linamix) will be set for the G1 Blue Diamond – Golden Slipper double following a breathtaking debut win at Moonee Valley.  The newcomer was bred by Arrowfield and Aga Khan Studs and cost $310,000 at this year’s Inglis Premier yearling sale.

“I’ve got a tremendous group of young horses and Azazel has really been at the pointy end all the way through,” trainer Tony McEvoy admitted.  “We’ve loved him from the start.  He’s a quality horse and really let down beautifully today.”

Azazel will contest the G3 Maribyrnong Plate down the Flemington straight in a fortnight.  His dam Allariza was among the mares The Aga Khan acquired in 2005 from the estate of leading French breeder Jean-Luc Lagardere.

Snitzel’s 4yo gelding Young Man Power drove through a gap and galloped home strongly to complete a hat-trick in the Fuji Stakes winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:34s.

He is from Snitzel’s second Japanese crop and was bred by Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm from the Sunday Silence mare Snapshot.  He was sold for the equivalent of AUD 165,000 at the 2013 JRHA Select Yearling Sale.

Snitzel has sired 44 stakes winners and stands for a $110,000 (inc gst) service fee alongside his sire Redoute’s Choice at Arrowfield Stud.
