Raheen Stud received another update for its QTIS Sale yearlings when Captain Sonador filly Dream Finnish won the Sirromet Wines Hcp (1350m) on Wednesday.

Captain Sonador sired his first winner when Captainear broke through at the Gold Coast last month and Dream Finnish claimed his first city victory with an impressive front-running display at Ipswich’s metro meeting.

“We got some cheap sectionals early on,” Luke Tarrant said.  “Then she really kicked on in the straight.”

Raheen Stud has 18 yearlings from the penultimate crop of Captain Sonador for the Magic Millions QTIS Sale at the Gold Coast on March 16 and 17.  The Group 1 winning son of Shamardal was put down after a paddock accident in February 2014.

Dream Finnish (2f Captain Sonador – Kililing by Anabaa) was never in the hunt first-up behind Captainear but different tactics turned that  into a three-quarter length victory over A Real Heartbreaka (Real Saga) and Big Dollars (Captain Sonador).

“She’s an exciting filly and will go to a Saturday race now,” trainer Michael Nolan said.  “The others came at her but she was strong and ran through the line.  Luke said she’s tough and will get a mile.”

Dream Finnish is the fourth and final winner for Kililing following the Raheen-bred winners Kiss Me Deadly (Snippetson), Skater Dude (Bradbury’s Luck) and Jetling (Jet Spur).  Their dam carried the Gooree Pastoral brand and she was a half-sister to Sydney stakes winner Banner Headline (Danehill).

Raheen Stud sold Dream Finnish for $16,000 at the 2014 QTIS Yearling Sale and their 18 Captain Sonador yearlings are part of his overall catalogue of 27 lots scheduled for next week’s QTIS Sale.  There another 75 foals on the ground from his final crop.
