South African Group 1 winner Gimmethegreenlight became the latest son of More Than Ready to open his account when Skip The Red scored at Greyville on Sunday.

Gimmethegreenlight (Aus) was sold by Vinery as a foal for $155,000 at 2009 Magic Millions National Sale and the highlight of his career was a Group 1 victory in the Queen’s Plate.

A handsome More Than Ready lookalike, he is a half-brother to G1 Coolmore Classic winner Ofcourseican and stands at Varsfontein Stud which is located 30km north-east of Cape Town.

Skip The Red (2c Gimmethegreenlight – Peonie Paradise by Badger’s Drift) showed an impressive turn of foot to win a maiden juvenile plate over 1000m in Durban.  He ran on powerfully for Alec Forbes in the closing stages to register a neck victory at just the second time of asking.

More Than Ready made more headlines in South Africa last year when the Mike De Kock trained Entisaar won the G1 Allan Robertson Championship on the way to being named Champion 2YO Filly at the Equus Awards.

The Vinery champion has a rising tide of sire sons in Australia following on from Sebring.  The 2008 Golden Slipper hero was represented by Group 1 winning colts Dissident and Criterion last year.

Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Pluck is also stationed at Vinery and his first crop have already moved off the mark in Australia and New Zealand.  War has his first foals on the ground at Blue Gum Farm in Victoria and Verrazano shuttled to Coolmore Stud for his first southern book last year.

In Kentucky, More Than Ready’s G1 Champagne Stakes winner Daredevil will begin covering his first book at WinStar Farm this month.
