First winner by Super Easy

Hallmark Stud stallion Super Easy sired his first winner with his first runner when Prom Queen led all the way for a smart win in the NZB 2YO Ready to Run Sale (800m) at Riccarton on Saturday.

The filly is trained at Ruakaka by Kenny and Lisa Rae, and she won her two trials at Avondale and Ruakaka.  She ventured all the way down to Christchurch for her debut, taking the long trip in her stride and winning with ease.

Ridden by Alysha Collett, Prom Queen sped to the lead and hugged the rail around the home turn.  She was challenged in the straight by Pipiana and the unbeaten favourite Kiwi Ida, but she kicked again and dashed clear to win by two lengths.  Her time was a rapid 46.13 seconds.

Prom Queen is out of the Royal Academy mare Finishing School, who ran second to Flying Babe in the Listed Great Northern Foal Stakes on this track in 2001.  Finishing School is now the dam of five winners including the stakes-placed Swiss Rose.

Riccarton’s juvenile event featured a trifecta for the first season sires, with Squamosa filly Kiwi Ida second and the Highly Recommended filly Pipiana third.

Super Easy is the first son of Darci Brahma to stand in New Zealand.  He won at Trentham for John Sargent before dominating Singapore racing in the care of Michael Freedman with 15 wins from 23 starts.

Hallmark acted quickly to secure Super Easy who ruptured a suspensory during his swansong victory in the G1 Patron’s Bowl at Kranji.  He retired to stand for a $7,500 (+ gst) fee in 2013.
