First winner by Regal Banquet

Darling Downs stallion Regal Banquet opened his account at stud when Bob Mark’s Boy was successful at the Roma TAB meeting on Saturday.

Bob Mark’s Boy (3g Regal Banquet – Galactic Glory by Carnegie) is trained by Mark Goodwin at Chinchilla and is the stallion’s only starter to date.  He jumped from an outside barrier to win the Williams Hall Chadwick Maiden (1000m) by a length from Gerry Harvey’s homebred Continuity (Bel Danoro).

Regal Banquet stands at Lynda Powell’s Arcadia Stud in Oakey for a $1,500 service fee.  She bought him for $5,000 as a foal from Bridgeview Stud at the 2006 Magic Millions National Sale.

“He was shaping up well on the track but was injured in the lead-up to the Fitton Hopeful Plate,” Powell recalled.  “We gave him a bit of time off but with such great aptitude and temperament we decided to enter him for the Brisbane Royal Show.”

Regal Banquet was a natural and has won numerous titles at the Ekka as well as the 2014 Supreme ANSA Exhibit at the Sydney Royal Show.  He is by former Darley shuttler King’s Best from Vanity Time (Lunchtime) and is a half-brother to the Sydney winners Raid and Rule (Marauding) and Aracena (Shovhog).
