First winner by Jayemzed

Bee Jay Zed posted the first win for Jayemzed when he overhauled front-runner Echuca Jewels in the Condo’s Horse Transport Maiden (1100m) at Bendigo on Saturday.

Bee Jay Zed (3g Jayemzed – Winner’s Choice by Piccolo) is trained by Shane Fleidner for owners Betty Connell and Jill Reece.  He is from an Eagle Farm winning relation of Group 1 winners Danelagh (Blue Diamond), Vengeance Of Rain (HK Horse of the Year) and Dizelle (Australian Oaks).

Victorian breeders Ralph and Peta Zito sold him for $2,500 through Bowthorpe Stud at the 2013 Tasmanian Magic Millions.

Jayemzed (Lion Cavern) won 5 races for the Zito family and he was also stakes placed in the LR Anniversary Vase at Caulfield.  The Victorian couple named him after the initials of their son Joel Mathew Zito who was tragically killed in a car accident within hours of Jayemzed being foaled in November 2002.

Jayemzed stands with David and Trish Cochrane at Bowthorpe on the banks of the South Esk River at Longford.  He has been restricted to single-figure crops since retiring to stud in 2009.
