First winner by Daunting Lad

Daunting Lad opened his winning account in cavalier style when The Lad’s My Dad bolted in by 7 lengths at Rockhampton on Thursday.

The Lad’s My Dad (2c Daunting Lad – Reset And Go by Reset) had been run down and beaten a nose on debut last month before turning his second start into a procession at Callaghan Park.  He is part-owned and trained by Lynette Petersen at Bundaberg and was ridden by apprentice Rhiannon Payne.

The winner was bred by Bill Naoum who trained his sire and dam.  Daunting Lad is a son of Sadler’s Wells sire Latarmiss and cost just $20,000 at the 2003 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

He developed into one of Queensland’s favourite sprinters winning 10 races including the LR Lightning Hcp (1000m) and LR John Power Hcp (1200m).  He was also runner-up to Kiwi mare Gee I Jane in the G1 BTC Cup

The Lad’s My Dad is the first foal from Darley bred mare Reset And Go.  Second dam Refuge (Sadler’s Wells) is a half-sister to stakes winners in France – Affidavit (Affirmed), England – Altamura (El Gran Senor) and Italy – Tea Garden (Barathea)

Daunting Lad is available for a $2,750 (inc gst) fee at Charsons Park which is based between Gympie and Maryborough.  Owner Sarah Charnock also stands Conleys Choice (Redoute’s Choice) for $1,650 (inc gst).
