First winner by Coubertin

Regally bred stallion Coubertin was represented by his first winner on Wednesday.

His filly September Storm had been placed first-up at Oakbank before claiming her maiden in the Morphett Vale RSL Hcp (1208m) at Balaklava.  She took the lead turning the corner under Claire Lindop and held on to defeat Pollywagon (Duporth) by a neck.

September Storm (3f Coubertin – Thunderousapplause by Thunder Gulch) is a younger half-sister to Elvstroem winner O’Toole.  Their dam was trained by Colin Little to win a heat of the 2005 VRC Silver Bowl.

Coubertin (Redoute’s Choice) was the fourth son of G1 AJC Oaks winner Circles Of Gold to embark on a stud career following Elvstroem (Blue Gum), Haradasun (Coolmore) and Gold Centre (NZ).  He retired to Greta West Stud but fertility issues meant his first and final crop numbered just 9 foals and only two of them have faced the starter.
