First winner by Arlington

Arlington is off and winning at stud with Little Arli making the breakthrough in Canberra on Friday.

Trained locally by Ron Weston & John Nisbet, the 3yo gelding was a noticeable firmer first-up and followed 5yo mare Janis (Duporth) before prevailing by a half-length in the Affinity Electrical Maiden (1000m).  He had received a warning from stewards after racing greenly on debut at Wagga in April.

Little Arli was retained to race by the Phillips family and his dam Ebony Fair (Kenfair) won 2 from 20 in Canberra for Gundaroo Stud.  He is her fifth and final winner.

Arlington (Red Ransom) is a magnificent individual and was a seven-figure buy for Graeme Rogerson as a yearling.  A half-brother to champion sire Savabeel, he was stakes placed as a 2yo in the LR Canonbury Stakes and LR Fernhill Hcp at Randwick.

Resuming at three, he won first-up at Canterbury over 1100m in preparation for the autumn classics that culminated with a Group 1 placing to Weekend Hussler in the Randwick Guineas (1600m).

Arlington retired to Lincoln Farm in 2012 for books of 106 and 110 mares in his first two seasons.  He left the Hunter Valley earlier this year for owner Bruce McHugh’s Tamalee Farm at Tamworth where he can be accessed for a fee of $4,400 (inc gst).
