First stakes winner by Wanted

Dead Or Alive has delivered the first stakes win for his sire Wanted in the LR Oaklands Plate (1600m) at Morphettville.

The Mick Price trained youngster was having only his second outing and he hit the line hard to score by three-quarters of a length from Battle Brewing (Medaglia d’Oro) and Commiserate (Congrats).

Dead Or Alive (2g Wanted – Sun Lane by Daylami) had been well beaten on debut in the VOBIS Gold Ingot at Caulfield before Price sent him across the border on Saturday.  The Caulfield conditioner had won the Oaklands Plate last year with Cailin Miss (Domesday).

“He’s raw and needed every bit of 1600m,” winning jockey Damien Oliver said.  “The more I got at him, the more he kept coming.  In time, he will get over longer distances for sure.”

Bred and sold by Musk Creek Farm owner David Kobritz, he is from a half sister to French Group 1 winner Victory Note and made $110,000 at the 2014 Gold Coast Magic Millions.

Eliza Park International stands Wanted and its Racing Division broke in and pre-trained Dead Or Alive.

Wanted (Fastnet Rock) won a G1 Newmarket Hcp at Flemington and he’s available for a $16,500 (inc gst) fee in 2015.  His latest crop of yearlings sold to Gai Waterhouse for $220,000 (Gold Coast Magic Millions) and $180,000 to Team Hawkes (Melbourne Premier).
