First foal by Blue Gum Farm sire War

The first foal by Blue Gum Farm’s beautifully credentialed young stallion War is a striking colt out of Al Maher mare Irradiated.

He was born at Leanne Smith’s Bucklee Farm in Greta West and is from a three-quarter sister-in-blood to South African Group 2 winner Bishops Rock.  “He’s a quality colt.  Correct.  Intelligent head with a lovely eye and lots of presence,” Smith said.  “Great nature.  Good size and structure.  I am absolutely delighted.”

The youngster was bred by Bucklee Farm in partnership with Blue Gum and he’s a great advertisement for War, a young stallion by a proven sire of sires More Than Ready.

War is a cracking individual and won the G3 Up and Coming Stakes at Warwick Farm at his just second start for Gai Waterhouse.  He had been knocked down to James Bester for $500,000 at the 2012 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Blue Gum Farm will stand War for a fee of $6,600 (inc gst) this season.
