Euro Charline back home with Botti

Euro Charline will return to trainer Marco Botti at Newmarket for a campaign targeting the G1 Dubai Duty Free at Meydan in March.

She is on the mend after surgery to remove small bone fragment from a hind ankle.  Team Valor won the $6 million Dubai Duty Free with Ipi Tombe in 2003

Botti originally trained the robust daughter of Vinery sire Myboycharlie before she was transferred to Todd Pletcher for a program aimed at the G1 Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf in November.

Euro Charline (3f Myboycharlie – Eurolink Artemis by Common Grounds) became the first filly to defeat older mares in the G1 Beverly D Stakes (1900m) at Arlington in August before being sidelined.

“It actually was an old injury suffered a long time ago, probably as a foal or a yearling, that was fairly well hidden and imbedded in the bone,” Team Valor CEO Barry Irwin said.  “Training over here on dirt must have reactivated the area.”

“She will be better off on the more forgiving surfaces with Marco at Newmarket.  The vets expect she will be ready to resume training in four weeks.”

Earlier this year, Euro Charline had won the LR Valiant Stakes at Ascot and she was also Group 1 placed in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.

“I’m sorry that it didn’t work out but I’m happy the filly will be fine,” Pletcher said.  “She’s very special; it’s been a while since I’ve had a turf horse like her.  She would have had a big season next year in America but I understand the decision to send her back home.”
