Day 3 Inglis Melbourne Premier – Results mirror progress in Victoria

The Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale has risen to new heights for the sixth consecutive year at Oaklands Junction.

The Inglis Premier average has increased by 16% from last year to a record $97,003 while the median is up 23% to a record $80,000 and gross up 19% to a record $44.50 million.

The Session I clearance rate sits at 82% on Tuesday night which is expected to improve as Make-An-Offer sales are processed in the ensuing days.   “We are ecstatic at the strength of the sale,” Inglis Victorian Director Peter Heagney said.  “As Melbourne’s principal yearling sale, these positive results are indicative of the progressive nature of the Victorian industry as a whole.”

Victorians spent over $20 million making up 45% of the sale’s gross to date.  International support was also strong with overseas buyers spending over $10 million on 90 Lots.

The three sessions of Premier 1 saw 45 lots sell for $200,000 which is a significant jump from 24 last year.

Day 3 trade on Tuesday was topped by a $420,000 Northern Meteor colt from Woodside Park and an Exceed And Excel filly on account of Blue Gum Farm.

Fastnet Rock led the sires by average (3 or more sold) with $187,083 across 12 yearlings, followed by Street Cry, Redoute’s Choice and Northern Meteor.

Lindsay Park is the leading Premier I buyer for the third consecutive year having outlaid $1.35 million on 11 Lots and Eliza Park International led the vendors by aggregate selling 24 Lots for $2.95 million.
