Classic windfall for Cosmic Storm

The amazing, and deserved, success of owner-breeders Bob and Sandra Peters continued with the win of Cosmic Storm in the LR Belmont Oaks (2000m) on Saturday.

She increased their tally of black-type wins for the season to 26.   Only Godolphin, the world’s largest racing operation, has had more feature winners in Australia during 2014-15.

Cosmic Storm (3f Street Sense – Stormy Nova by Metal Storm) ran down pacemaker Fo’ Shizzle to score by three-quarters of a length with Indi Pacific third.  It completed a hat-trick for the filly who has now earned $172,700 in prizemoney and Westspeed bonuses.

“She will probably go to the paddock now,” Peters said.  “I think the 2200 metres of the Belmont Classic in a fortnight would be stretching her out a bit – she’s not really ready for it.”

Her dam Stormy Nova was a Group 3 winner of the Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic and Champion Fillies Stakes and she has a yearling brother to the Belmont Oaks winner named Royal Command.
