Rangal Park bred sprinter Romantic Cash opened the Hong Kong season with a three length victory in the Lung Wui Hcp (1200m) on Sunday.

Romantic Cash (4g Danerich – Homeland Sheila by Keltrice) had won a Cranbourne trial for Greg Eurell in November 2013 prior to being purchased privately by clients of trainer Danny Shum.  He had shown speed when a fading fifth on debut in June and went right on with the job despite a wide trip at Sha Tin on Sunday.

“Danny asked me to try him in a trial and he was OK but I didn’t think he would come out and win until I took him to the start,” jockey Olivier Doleuze said.  “I could feel he had improved a lot so I was more confident.

“I hope the handicapper doesn’t kill him because the track was very fast.  If you kicked at the right time it was very hard to catch the leaders.”

Romantic Cash is the latest Hong Kong winner by Rangal Park stallion Danerich.  He’s the sire of David Hall’s very promising sprinter Brilliant Dream who had also won a Cranbourne trial for Eurell before shipping off-shore.

Rangal Park owner Eric Buttler sent Homeland Sheila to New Zealand in 2012 and she has a Savabeel filly that will be catalogued for the sales next year.  The mare returned home after being covered by Ocean Park and she is due to foal next month.

It’s one of Rangal Park’s most productive families.  Homeland Sheila is a Keltrice sister to the Flemington stakes winners Northeast Sheila and Dashing Granada and a half-sister to Kablammo (Marauding) who also won at headquarters the day Makybe Diva won her first Melbourne Cup.

Danerich (Danehill) is standing for a service fee of $8,800 (inc gst) in 2014.
