Cadillac chips in for Reset

Reset is making sure Bel Esprit isn’t a lay down misere for another Victorian sires’ premiership this season.

The Darley Victoria resident is a clear leader at the top of the table and Cadillac Mountain chipped in with a powerful finish to the $80,000 Werribee Cup on Thursday.

Cadillac Mountain (4g Reset – Picholine by Dehere) was cluttered up on the rails near the rear of the field before Chad Schofield angled him wide approaching the corner.  “We were a long way off them but I knew he would wind up and just keep coming.  He’s a promising stayer for the future.”

Cadillac Mountain was bred by Contract Racing’s David & Jenny Moodie in partnership Nick & Gayle Psaltis and Peter Anastasiou.  They purchased his dam Picholine for $440,000 from Harry Perks at the 2010 Inglis Easter Broodmare Sale.

His older brother Rebel Raider won the 2003 Victoria Derby and is now based at Wyndholm Park in Ballarat.  His half-brother Shamoline Warrior won the 2009 Norman Robinson Stakes but a lung infection forced his withdrawal on the morning of that year’s Victoria Derby.  He is at stud in New Zealand.

Reset ($2.54 million) and Bel Esprit ($1.79 million) will continue to spar in Perth this Saturday.

Reset’s unbeaten three year-old Disposition is the even-money favourite for the $400,000 WA Guineas and Bel Sprinter will be gunning for his second Group 1 in the $750,000 Winterbottom Stakes.
