Bloom bred to win a Perth Cup

Viscount stayer Tick Tick Bloom is bred to win a Perth Cup and trainer Adam Durrant will head that way next season.

“She’s tall and leggy and with a bit more maturity can be a carnival horse,” Durrant said after the mare won the Vale Elite Belle Hcp (1800m) at Ascot on Saturday.  “She will have a good winter break and come back and have a crack at the Perth Cup.”

In the meantime, Tick Tick Bloom’s immediate goal is the south-west cups’ double at Bunbury and Pinjarra in March.  “She’s looking for a journey and is heading in the right direction.  I told the owners early on she would be a serious horse given time.”

Tick Tick Bloom (4m Viscount – Eight Roses by Bellotto) won last year’s LR Belmont Guineas (1600m) and LR Belmont Oaks (2000m) and is from a half-sister to 1995 Perth Cup winner Ros Reef.  She is raced by part-owner and breeder Dan Palmateer along with a group of work-mates based at the Cosmos Nickel Mine north of Leinster.

Viscount (Quest For Fame) has sired 11 stakes winners and among them are Singapore star Rocket Man and Australian Group 1 winners Neroli (STC Queen of the Turf) and Kidnapped (SAJC Derby).  He stands at Oakland Park for a $7,700 (inc gst) service fee.
