Big Blue tops Inglis December Sale

Godolphin import Big Blue (GB) topped the Inglis December Sale at Oaklands Junction on Friday when making $102,000 to the bid of Maher Bloodstock.

Big Blue (6g Galileo – Board Meeting by Anabaa) had won the LR Prix Michel Houyvet (3000m) at Deauville before relocating to Australia in December 2016.  He was unplaced at all six starts this year and was last seen finishing midfield in the LR Ballarat Cup on November 25.

Godolphin also received $100,000 for Demonstrate (New Approach) who completed a hat-trick on 2016 Melbourne Cup day at Flemington.  That was the last of his 5 wins so far for $380,000 in prizemoney.

Lonhro mare Soiree was another member of the Blue Army to change hands for $100,000.  She won a Kembla Grange maiden and is a half-sister to LR Canterbury Classic winner Barbed (Canny Lad).

Highclere Thoroughbreds received $100,000 for Foundation (Ire).  He won the G2 Royal Lodge Stakes at Newmarket but hasn’t fired out here to date for David Hayes or Michael Hickmott.

Overall, 89 horses grossed $1.63 million at a clearance rate of 91%.

The first Inglis auction in the New Year will be the Classic Yearling Sale from February 10-13.  It will herald the first sale at the Inglis Riverside Stables at Warwick Farm.
