Ascot Delicacy for Scenic Lodge

Ascot’s New Year meeting was a moving feast for Scenic Lodge ahead of the Perth Magic Millions yearling sale.

Champion mare Delicacy continued her winning run in the G2 Perth Cup and her younger brother will be one of the stars at the Magic Millions.  The Al Maher – Simply Wicked colt (Lot 140) headlines the Scenic Lodge consignment and he has received reams of free publicity while his sister’s bank balance climbed to $2.15 million.

Scenic Lodge owners David and Jeremy Smith were already high-fiving after Vega Magic (Lope de Vega) and Ron’s Call (Magic Albert) won earlier races on the Perth Cup card.  They have catalogued a Lope de Vega half-sister to Ron’s Call (Lot 11) at the Perth Magic Millions.

Vega Magic has won his last three at Ascot for George and Wally Daly.  Ron’s Call had risen through the grades from a Northam maiden to the LR Fairetha Stakes as a three year-old, however, he had been sidelined for two twelve-month spells before returning a winner for owners Peter Bell and Ray Meadowcroft.

Lope de Vega (Shamardal) shuttled here for four years before the schmozzle at Patinack Farm.  He won the French 2000 Guineas – French Derby double and claimed the 2014 European first-season premiership with 25 individual winners headed by Belardo (G1 Dewhurst Stakes), Hero Look (G2 Italian Gran Criterium), Burnt Sugar (G3 Sirenia Stakes) and Royal Razalma (G3 Cornwallis Stakes).
