Another Perth Gem by Statue Of Liberty

Statue Of Liberty started a Super Saturday for Eliza Park International at Ascot when his promising sprinter Liberty’s Gem won the LR Placid Ark Stakes (1200m).

The Simon Miller trained three year-old led home an Eliza Park International quinella from Magnus gelding Malibu Style.  Later in the day, Magnus mare Magnifisio claimed the G1 Winterbottom Stakes.

Liberty’s Gem (3g Statue Of Liberty – All That Sparkles by Rubiton) led all the way for a very impressive victory – his first at black-type level – following a debut win at Belmont in September.  He was the market-mover and repaid punters when holding off Malibu Style by a short neck.

“The winner just oozes class, he’s got so much ability,” Miller said.  “When he figures it out, he’s going to be an absolute ripper this guy.”

Miller indicated his next target will be the G3 Sir Ernest Lee-Steere Classic (1400m) on December 6.

Liberty’s Gem cost $80,000 at the 2013 Inglis Classic Sale.  He is from a half-sister to Adelaide Listed winner Golden Pedigree and the dam of G1 Metropolitan winner The Verminator.

World champion male sprinter Hay List emerged from Perth to put Statue Of Liberty on the map as a hugely popular speed source.  He stands at Eliza Park International for an $11,000 (inc gst) service fee.
